Community Engagement

At Macutex, community engagement is about fostering relationships and providing practical support for meaningful initiatives that benefit the wider community.

We are proud to support non-profit and other organisations who are working towards positive change through impactful projects that align with our values.

Together with our partners, we focus on bringing our vision of Better Buildings for a Better Tomorrow to life.

If you have an initiative you would like to discuss with us, please feel free to get in touch.

Hands On Learning

Hands On Learning (HoL), a division of Save the Children, is an innovative education program that schools use to cater to the different ways young people learn, giving participants the hope and aspiration to stay at school and realise their potential.

Macutex has a long-standing relationship with HoL and provides drone and digital asset support services to the HoL Program in Victoria.

The creation of digital 3D models and virtual tours of HoL precincts supports the program in their delivery of quality assurance, ongoing training, and development of a specialist workforce with the restrictions of remote engagement. They are also used as a basis for engaging potential schools and commercial partners.

Shrine of Remembrance

The Shrine of Remembrance Melbourne honours the service and sacrifice of Victorians and Australians in war, peacemaking, and peacekeeping.

In March 2020, as Melbourne entered lockdown due to COVID-19, the Shrine of Remembrance was challenged with meeting their commemorative audience’s needs for the approaching dawn service on Anzac Day. To support the Shrine in meeting this challenge, Macutex produced an interactive virtual tour as a way for audiences to virtually attend the site, from the safety of their homes through 3D technology.

A significant outcome of the project was that the Shrine’s Education Program engaged with over 60,000 students through the digital model, including those from regional and disadvantaged locations. Betwen May 2020 and 2021 there were over 12,000 virtual visits to the Shrine, with an average of 863 per month. The virtual tour contributed to the client’s overall vision and mission to “engage Victorians in commemoration through reflection, education and learning”.

Kids Under Cover

Since 2016, we have worked with Kids Under Cover to help create a meaningful difference in the lives of young people at risk of homelessness. We have been pleased to support the organisation through volunteering and pro bono services including the provision of technical advice, and assisting with data collection, analysis and management. For example, Macutex was delighted to work with Kids Under Cover to produce time-lapse photography and 360-degree walkthrough technology to visually capture the journey of developing a “first of its kind” village Village 21 Tour designed to interrupt the spiral of youth homelessness. The village provides accommodation and facilities for young people aged 18-21 leaving care and provides a stable and secure home with wrap-around supports for up to three years.
